Vitantonio Liuzzi Scores Spectacular Pole At The Hungaroring To Top Home Favorite Norbert Michelisz

The Mercedes C63 AMG driven by Vitantonio Liuzzi, and wearing the manufacturer's colors of Mercedes-AMG, will take off from the Pole Position tomorrow in Race 1 of the SUPERSTARS SERIES weekend at the Hungaroring. The Italian former F.1 racer clocked a sensational laptime of 1:52.513 and was followed by the crowd's home favorite, Norbert Michelisz, who raced the Scuderia Giudici-prepared BMW M3 to an outstanding front row position.

The Audi brand will be well represented in Row 2 with multiple SUPERSTARS champ Gianni Morbidelli and German youngster Thomas Schoeffler, while the championship's third Audi RS5, driven by series' leader Johan Kristoffersson, will take-off from 7th. The top-5 was rounded out by Thomas Biagi on the Team Dinamic BMW M3, while newcomer Christian Klien will line-up alongside him tomorrow in Row 3.

"We are really satisfied - said Liuzzi - because this track is one of the least suitable for our car, although we already know that it won't be easy tomorrow. After Mugello we continued to develop our Mercedes C63 AMG and this result shows that we are definitely on the right path".

Two Ferrari 458 Italia racers, albeit from different classes, will share the front row in the two rolling starts of GTSPRINT. The fastest lap of the day was posted by Andrea Palma for Black Team (1:48.383), while Mario Cordoni, lined-up by Ombra Racing, lapped in 1:50.011. Row two will be featuring a Porsche and a Corvette. The German racecar, a 997 RSR model prepared by Autorlando Sport, will be driven by the experienced Glauco Solieri, while the American muscle car will be shared by Roberto Del Castello and Roberto Benedetti for RC Motorsport. The Ferrari 430 of female racer Francesca Linossi and Simone Pellegrinelli rounded out the top-5, followed by the leaders in the GTS Cup Trophy, Steven Goldstein of Colombia and Giacomo Piccini of Italy.

The four races will all take place tomorrow with the Ferrari Challenge as a support event. The SUPERSTARS SERIES drivers will be on-track at 11:15 and 16:15, while the GTSPRINT races will start at 9:00 and 14:05. As always, the races will benefit from a wide live TV coverage. The SUPERSTARS races will be broadcasted live by the Hungarian national network MTV on "m2", starting at 11:05 (Race 1) and 16:10 (Race 2) and by Sport Klub, with Race 1 at 11:15 and Race 2 at 16:15. The GTSPRINT series will be covered "As Live" on Sport Klub at 21:45 (Race 1) and 22:15 (Race 2). The wide international TV coverage of the two championship will be much wider though, thanks to a partnership with Wige_TV Marketing. The races will be covered live in 66 countries an in delayed form in 175 countries through a network of 190 broadcasters. An huge show is also expected on-track and at the PADDOCK SHOW arena with interviews, autograph sessions and much more…
